Heinrich Vogeler and the artists of "Jugendstil" |
April 4 Fri. - 19 Sat. 2008
“Jugendstil” means a trend of an art movement which emerged among young
artists around Munich and Berlin in the end of 19th century. It corresponded
to “Art Nouveau” in France and Belgium. It took its name from the illustrated
art magazine “Jugend” which was published in Munich in 1896.
The illustrations in it were influenced by French Art Nouveau, so this
was called “Jugendstil” (youth style).
