Tadashi TONOSHIKI Remaining Works ExhibitionAugust 21 Wed. - August 31 Sat. 2013 |
Born in Hiroshima, Tadashi TONOSHIKI expressed his atom bombed experience by drawing remains and memories of Hiroshima with very precise stipple works. Later on, he expressed his challenging, critical messages towards absurdity of a modern society with installations which filled venues with old tyres and other wastes. He passed out at the age of 50 in 1992. In this exhibition, Toki-no-Wasuremono introduces 22 early works, such as precisely stippled print of the Atom bomb dome block, a saw, a crab and a oil painting.
■Tadashi TONOSHIKI (1942-1992)
Born 1942 in Hiroshima. Atom bombed at the age of three. He lost his father with the atom bomb, and his mother also passed out five years later. Aims to become a painter at the age of 26. Adviced by Sadajiro KUBO, begun copperplate printing in 1977. He gained attention with his works based on his atom bombed experience, and was awarded Yasui prize in 1979 and 1980. Shocked by Joseph BEUYS's work in "documenta 7" while on the trip in Europe during 1982, TONOSHIKI presented the installation with 4t of old tyres and wastes in the Yamaguchi Prefectural Exhibition in 1983. Passed out in 1992 at the age of 50.
