■Ichigo SUGAWARA (1960-)
Born 1960 in Sapporo, Japan. Studied under Osamu HAYASAKI after graduation from Osaka University of Arts Department of Photography. Hosted countless solo exhibitions since his start as a photographer in France. In 1996, the movie "blue fish" which he participated as the director of photography was screened at Berlin International Film Festival as an official invitated work. His works were stocked as a permanent collection at the National Library of France in 2004. Took part in "Made In The Shade" exhibition held at Pace MacGill Gallery, NY, with Robert Frank in 2005. In the same year, he worked as an opening animation director for the Japanese animation "Mushi shi", expanding his range of activity stepping over the ordinary photography expression. Recently, he has been researching techniquies such as wet plate photography to capture a brightness of a light into a photograph, and by combining classical photography techniques with latest digital technologies, he has been creating a new photography never seen before. Works stocked at San Diego Photography Museum in 2010. Solo exhibition "The Bright Forest" held at Trunk Gallery, Seoul in 2011. Solo exhibition "Tsugaru" held at Leica Ginza Photo Salon, Tokyo.
