Piet Mondrian Print ExhibitionSeptember 24 Wed. - October 4 Sat. 2014 |
Mondrian begun painting by being tought by his uncle, and he initially painted sceneries and still lives in a naturalistic style. Whilst in his mid 30s, he begun to search for a new style of expression and came to know new movement in painting such as French pointillism and post impressionism. Encounting cubism at Paris in 1910, his painting has shifted to more abstract style.
As a part of his abstractionism art activity, Mondrian has also put effort on the publication of art magazine "De Stijl" in which he proposed "neoplasticism". The style familiar to us today as "Mondrian style" with vertical and horizontal lines and areas of three primary colors, are known as a pioneer of geometric abstract painting.
After his death, Galerie Denise Rene (Paris) published collection of silkscreen "mondrian" in 1957. In this exhibition, we are presenting 12 silkscreens which changes of Mondrian's style can be seen from "l'arble blue - aquarelle" to "broadway boogie-woogie".
