Frank Stella |
He was born in Malden, Massachusetts (USA). In 1959, he participated in the “Sixteen Americans” exhibition, organized by the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), It was during this exhibition that he made a significant impact with a piece featuring bold black stripes across the canvas. From that point onwards, he continued with the creation of works with stripes becoming a major influence on the development of minimal art. |
However, he eventually moved away from stripes and began exploring abstraction through relief. He died on May 4, 2024 at the age of 87. |
