Genpei AKASEGAWA

Born 1937 in Yokohama (Kanagawa). Avant-garde artist and writer. Akasegawa studied oil painting at Musashino Art School (now Musashino Art University), but left before graduation. As an author of “pure literature,” he published under the pen name of Otsuji Katsuhiko. The writer and winner of the Naoki Prize, Akasegawa Shun, was his elder brother.

Akasegawa also taught as a guest professor at the Department of Japanese Painting at Musashino Art University.
Passed away in 2014.
