Shinzaburo TAKEDA |
Born in 1935 in Seto (Aichi Prefecture), Takeda graduated from the Department of Painting at Tokyo University of the Arts in 1957. In the same year, his works were included in the 1st Tokyo International Print Biennale. Takeda found himself unable to adapt the prevalent current of abstract painting, so he decided to study with the artist Tamiji Kitagawa instead. To gain a firsthand impression of the exhibition of Mexican art, “Magical Realism,” he traveled to Mexico in 1963. He lives in Mexico. |
Takeda was awarded the First Prize of the Mexican Youth Print Exhibition in 1964, and the Second Prize of the Mexican Painting Concurs in 1969. Thematically concentrating on the people and nature of Mexico, Takeda continues to work in various media such as oil paintings, woodblock prints, and lithographs. |
