Artist. Born in Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, in 1936. Studied poetry, literature, and painting as a child. 1956, dropped out of Seoul National University School of Art and moved to Japan. 1961, graduated Nihon University Department of Literature. 1967, held his first solo exhibition, and afterwards became active on a global scale in pursuit of avant garde forms of expression. |
From 1968, became known as a pillar of the Mono Ha movement. Exhibited at international exhibitions like the Paris Biennale and Kassel Dokumenta, and continues to have solo exhibitions at international and domestic museums including Dusseldorf's Kunsthall, Paris' Jeu de Paume, and the Museum of Modern Art, Kanagawa. |
