Kazuo KITAI

Born in Anshan, China in 1944. 1965, dropped out of Nihon University College of Art Department of Photography and published the photo collection "Resistance" (Miraisha). 1972, awarded the JPA Newcomer's Prize for his series "Sanrizuka" which recorded farmers who fought against the construction of Narita Airport. 1976, awarded the first Imura Kihei Award for his series "To the Village" in Asahi Camera Magazine.

Photo collections include "People of Sakaigawa" (Urayasucho 1978), "Tale of Shinsekai" (Gendai Shokan 1981), "Funabashi Story" (Rokko Shuppan 1989), "1970s NIPPON" (Toseisha 2001), and "1990s Beijing" (Toseisha 2004).
