Naomi FUTAKI

Futaki was born 1953 in Tokyo. He studied at the Department of Sculpture at Musashino Art University, but left short of graduation in 1977. From 1979 to 1982, he participated in surveys, research and publications on urban planning. Since the 1980s, Futaki regularly held solo exhibitions of his works. In 1986, he began the “Belvedere” series.

His pencil drawings, comprised of a dense layering of thin lines, suggest vast expanses of space without any clear boundaries. The National Museum of Modern Art (Tokyo), the Fuchu Art Museum, and the National Museum of Art (Osaka) hold substantial collections of his works.
