Born in Tokyo in 1941. His father was the painter Tatsuoki Nambada, and he tried oil painting at the suggestion of his teacher when he was in elementary school. Also, he became familiar with literature and grew up in an impressionable childhood. While in high school, he decided to pursue painting and gave up the idea of going to university. 1960, he entered the art department of Bunka Gakuin, but was not accustomed to its instructional policies and dropped out after two years, and since then has devoted himself to painting in solitude. He used pen and watercolor, and developed a style in which figures and buildings float in the air with a stroking touch and intense colors.
