Born in New York in 1949. Painter. 1971, graduated from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Winters' works were based in abstract expressionism and were mainly made with organic motifs. 1982, held his first solo exhibition at Sonnabend Gallery in New York.

Winters' work has been shown at major museums and galleries like the Museum of Contemporary Art, LA, the Whitney Museum in NYC, IVAM Julio Gonzales Center in Valencia, White Chapel Gallery in London (1998), and the Kunsthall in Basel (2000). He is currently active in New York.
