Motonao TAKASAKI

Born 1923 in Kochi. Graduated from the Department of Sculpture, Tokyo Fine Arts School (presently, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music) in 1949. Received the newcomer’s prize at the 4th Exhibition of the Modern Art Association of Japan in 1954, and became its member in 1957 (Withdrew in 1970).

Became a member of Gutai in 1966, after sympathizing with works by Jiro YOSHIHARA, Kazuo SHIRAGA and Sadamasa MOTONAGA. Stayed until Gutai’s dissolution in 1972. Received the Kochi Prefecture Cultural Award in 1995 for promoting modern art by hosting groups such as the "Modern Art Laboratory" and the "Modern Art Experiment".
He passed away in June 2017.
