He was a French painter and sculptor born in 1880 and one of the promoters of the Fauvisme with Matisse, Vlaminck and others. He also worked on ballet costumes and stage decorations. In 1954, he lost his life in a traffic accident at the age of 74. His artworks are now in the collections of the Hermitage Museum, the Musée d'Orsay, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. |
