CHRISTO
Christo (1935-)was born in Bulgaria as Христо Явашев, Christo Vladimirov Javachev. He and his wife, Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon (born 1935 in Morocco) are active as the unit Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Together, they "wrap" things.

They began by wrapping daily objects like tables and chairs, then wrapped enormous monuments, and now, mimicing architecture, wrap natural landscapes and parks in huge cloths. These ambitious "wrappings" require long periods of planning, huge resources of manpower and finance, and once complete are deconstructed after a short time, leaving only records of planning records, prints, and drawings. The process, including business, logistics, human interactions, is something that Christo and Jeanne-Claude regard together as their "work".
