Born in Caracas, Venezuela. She was attracted to drawing and painting from an early age, and continued both along with her studies until her third levels. Graduated with a degree in architecture from the Central University of Venezuela in 1979. During this period she underwent rich training in visual arts at Corcoran Museum School of Art, George Washington University, 1962-1965; School of Visual Art Cristóbal Rojas, 1970- 1972; she took classes from Professor Humberto Jaimes Sánchez, 1970-1972; then at The Inchbald School of Design and Fine Arts, Londres and Morley College, she took courses in landscape architecture, advanced painting and drawing, prints and screenprinting between 1980-83. |

Her first solo exhibition was held at Gallery El Muro in 1971, and she held other exhibitions periodically in Venezuela and abroad: Maracaibo Bella Arts Center and the Rinconada Museum, 1986; The Museum of Modern Art of Latin America, OEA, Washington DC, 1987; the Gallery of Warm Spaces, Athenaeum of Caracas, 1989. Her final exhibition, titled “Irregular Memory’, was held at Gallery Uno in Caracas in 1996. Beatriz Sánchez regularly participated in national and international clashes. She has received various distinctions, including 2nd prize in painting at the XII Aragua Lounge, Maracay, 1987: mention at the II trienniale of Art against War, Lublin, Poland, 1988; XXIII International Award of Contemporary Art, Montecarlo, Monaco, 1989. |
