Shingo HONDA |

Born in Niigata Prefecture in 1944. He studied at Tama Art University between 1964 and 1968. After recovering from tuberculosis, he began to seriously create works. HONDA participated in events like Japan Art Festival in the 1970s, "August 1970: Transect of Modern Art" (MoMAT), and "Artists of Today '70 Exhibition" (Yokohama People's Gallery); he became established as an artist of Mono-ha.

In 1969 he held his first solo exhibition at Tamura Gallery, then continued at galleries including Muramatsu Gallery and Gallery Te. He moved to Los Angeles in 1984 and continued to create mainly paintings in the States and Japan. HONDA entered the priesthood of the Soto school and studied Zen.
He passed away in 2019. |
