Jacques Villon
(1875-1963) was born in Normandy, France. Initiated in printmaking by his
grandfather, he later became a copperplate print artist representative of
the cubism movement. |

Villon was the eldest of 7 siblings, 4 of whom were active as artists. His brother of one year younger, R-aymond Duchamp-Villon (1876-1968), was also active in cubism. 12 years younger than him was Marcel Duchamp (1887-1968), who had a great influence on Dada and Surrealism, and 14 years younger was Suzanne Duchamp (1889-1963), also a Dadaist. |
