Man RAY |
Man Ray (27.8. 1890 – 18.11. 1976) was an American painter, sculptor, and photographer. Associated with the Dadaist and Surrealist movements, he is known for having created works in a variety of formats and media. |
Though he considered himself mainly a painter, Man Ray gained recognition for his innovative use of photographic techniques such as solarization, and his “rayographs” (camera-less pictures). He furthermore produced straightforward portrait photography (particularly of fellow artists), and fashion photography. |
