Robert RAUSCHENBERG

Born 1925 at Port Arthur, Texas. Studied art at Art Student League, New York. Became famous with "Combined painting" in which he combined painting and materials together, and from 1962, taking a step ahead of Andy WARHOL, he began producing "Silkscreen Painting" by printing a photograph onto a canvas.
By randamly combining fragments of photographs, newspapers and art magazines, RAUSCHENBERG has expressed the time, the place and the society of America. He has also collaborated with composer John CAGE and dancer Merce CUNNINGHAM.
Large scale retrospective was hosted by Guggenheim Museum New York in 1997 and by Metropolitan Museum in 2006.
Passed away in 2008 at the age of 82.
