Joseph BEUYS
5/12/1921 - 1/23/1986. BEUYS was a German modern artist, sculptor, educator, and activist. He was involved with Fluxus in its early stages and made a name with perforamnce art and conceptual art, but he has left behind many drawings, scultpures, installation works, and video art.

BEUYS used unaltered materials like lard, felt, and stone to make his works, but unlike the minimal art that was also occuring at the same time, he placed more importance on the images and ideas imparted on the audeince than on the form of the material itself.
