April 10 Tue.― 28 Sat. 2018
GALLERY CLOSED ON SUNDAY and MONDAY.

We are pleased to present Toki-no-Wasuremono's 2nd exhibition of Bob Willoughby, a "special" photographer who has taken many behind-the-scenes shots of Hollywood stars. This time we will exhibit 15 works of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe from the 1950s-60s.

Bob WILLOUGHBY
Born 1927 in Los Angeles in America. Willoughby began photography at the age of 12, with a camera given to him as a birthday present from his father. After graduating from high school, he studied under Hollywood photographers and practiced his skill with local jazz musicians. He studied cinema at night at the USC Cinema Department and design at the Kahn Institute of Art. Over the next 30 years he photographed still images of more than 100 films, such as "My Fair Lady", "From Here to Eternity", "A Star Is Born", "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?", and "The Graduate", providing them to globally known magazines such as "Life" and "Vogue".

Books including "The Platinum Years" (1974), "The Hollywood Special" (1993), and "Jazz: Body and Soul" (2012) are available for collections of his photographs. His works are displayed in museums of many countries. Willoughby passed away at his home in Vence, south of France, in December of 2009 at the age of 82.
