Ogawa was born 1959 in Yamaguchi Prefecture. He graduated in 1983 from the Art Department of Mie University. Toki-no-Wasuremono held solo exhibitions of Ogawa’s works, “Without You,” three times in 1997, 2000, and 2003. In 2000, the Toyota Municipal Museum of Art held the exhibition “Empty Land.” Further exhibitions took place at Tokyo Roentgenwerke (2003), and the National Museum of Art, Osaka (2006, “Meddling World”).

Probably the first who bought Ogawa’s work “Without You: Citizen Kane” were Nishida Gallery in Nara. Ogawa’s drawing skills are brilliant, as evinced by his “Without You” series where he is eliminating the principal character from famous paintings and thereby alluding to its hidden meanings, or the “Perfect World” series where he took the motifs of old postcards and repeated them by drawing them in again in surprising new combinations.
